History of Ascent Ministries

Early in the fall of 2005, a group of college students came together with one goal in mind, to encounter the living God. The common factor uniting these students was their determination to press beyond merely knowing about God into a place of actually meeting with Him. The reality of deeply knowing the Lord and living life in relationship with Him as many have throughout Scripture and history became the driving passion of these students. The goal was to have the focus of their lives “ascend” from the world around them to the presence of God both within and around them. A team of leaders emerged from this gathering with a desire to bring this vision beyond the borders of college campuses and into the lives of believers throughout our nation.

Today, Ascent Ministries offers places where local believers can gather together with one simple goal…to meet with God. Ascent Ministries also serves as a discipleship and missions organizations equipping believers to live out their callings in the world around them. Meeting with God happens in several settings: in teachings where believers learn to see Him as the ancient Hebrew people saw Him, in service where they experience His heart for the poor as they are a vessel of His love, through prayer gatherings as they learn to know God in the midst of His people from many different denominational backgrounds, and through mentorship and personal formation as they meet Him in a deeply personal way as He transforms them into the people He designed them to be and nourishes them with His love and strength allowing them to live this out in the world around them. All of these activities are rooted deeply in Scripture and the belief that He is present with us just as He was with His people on the pages of Scripture.

In the future, we hope to expand our impact on the United States. While we continue educating local believers in communities throughout the Midwest, we also plan to equip believers who are called to missions, sending them to areas of poverty in our nation with a message of God’s presence, hope and love.
