MATTHEW MANDATE

When Jesus commands us to “go and make disciples,” He promises to empower and go with us. Living as servants of Jesus in dark places within the world is the focus of Matthew Mandate.

By actively participating in and living within communities, staff and volunteers develop relationships with individuals and are ministers of God’s love to those in need.

Vision Statement

Developing people who:

  • Establish life-giving communities
  • Live as lights in dark places
  • Rescue those in bondage

We do this by building safe havens within the urban core where people experience:

  • Physical safety and hospitality
  • Relational acceptance, love and nurture
  • Encouragement to grow and become everything they were created to be

Currently three staff live within the urban core of Kansas City, creating safe havens within their homes and launching:

  • The Sanctuary – prayer ministry for the homeless and opportunities for them to give voice to their personal story through writing
  • Faith, Family and Footballoutreach ministry targeting junior and senior high youth

We collaborate with:

  • Hope Faith Ministries
  • Healing House
  • Kansas City Urban Youth

College students from both Missouri and Iowa are immersed in urban core experiences during spring/fall break trips and a ten-week summer internship.

One of the ways we fund this work is through the Urban Market.
